Dispatch from Duluth
Got up here last night about 8:30 pm. Weather was very rainy. In some places it had apparantly snowed a little. Went to bed. Friday was good, but very rainy. Spent the morning at the Depot and then had lunch with Mike, Kadence, and Carol. We ate at Perkins and it was uneventful, except for the fact that our waiter had been in Mike's custody only a few days before. It was a little uncomfortable, but the food was good. Went home and the kids took a nap. Harry Potter for Sandy, GTA:San Andreas for me. Then we drove up to UMD to tour the new student areas. After that it was downtown to the Exchange Bakery (closed) and then to a toy store. Annika bought a little turtle for 54 cents, which is currently lost. Alex got a wind up bathtub diver for about $5, and Owen got a little truck. Dinner was hot dogs and some very brown sugary baked beans. After that, Annika and I got dressed for the ballet. We taped Hallie's performance. During the performance there were different levels of students, and Annika asked of a 65-ish year-old man doing a jazz routine, "Is that Steve up there?" After the event I told Steve and he laughed and said, "I've got a lot more hair." Also got some nice video of Annika dancing in the mezzanine area outside the auditorium doors. Came home. Ron stopped by and I got a couple pictures of him and Sandy. He looked great. He must love his job. Tomorrow we plan to go to Ron and Callie's for a playdate and order pizza.I think that Sandy may go on a ride-along with Ron tomorrow night. He wants one of us out there with him for a little while, anyway. I hope Sandy goes.
